Reflection

I used a number of processes to complete this project. In fact, the process of change prompted the project. The School of Business had been using a very static, old web site to share information with students and others. Unfortunately, this site no longer provided a useful tool for users and needed redesigning. Because of the diversity of the organization and the many changes that happened throughout the year, the new web site needed a more dynamic nature and an easier way to change the content by those involved.

The next step was the design and development process. We worked with a design and development group called Geary Interactive. I acted as the liaison between the school and this company throughout design and development. Throughout the process of design and development, I learned that the new web site needed to support multiple viewpoints and perspectives . Also, the product must be user-friendly, but also easily updated. The stakeholders must have a say in the format and the look of the site, as well as the navigation system. I spent a large portion of the design and development process taking ideas back and forth for approvals among the various groups involved.

The final process after developing the site was the rollout phase. Our team had to implement this change in the organization. This process involved training those who would be updating the content and the web site itself. The learning curve was steep for some users and I realized the key to a successful training was patience. After training, the organization continued to update the site and keep the information current. Now, the School of Business has a dynamic and up-to-date web site for their students and faculty.
