Spring 08
Portfolio presentations will be given on April 11 and April 15. Students are assigned to present on one of those two days.
The EDTEC faculty will familiarize themselves with your portfolio prior to your presentation on Friday.
Introduction
The portfolio is your chance to organize and display your best work for prospective employers or clients, or for advancement in your current situation. It is an opportunity to show EDTEC faculty how you've exploited your time in the masters program and how you have integrated your experiences into your present or future work.
EDTEC faculty see your portfolio as a window into how you've met the core standards of the program and brought them together into a comprehensible whole with a focus on your own interests and aspirations. Prospective employers or clients will appreciate a direct glimpse into the quality and variety of your thought and work.
What is the EDTEC e-portfolio?
The e-portfolio is first and foremost a representation of your accomplishments throughout the EDTEC program and a broad reflection on your work as a whole. It should be a showcase of your best projects and papers and a reflection on how this work relates to your place in our field. These reflections should demonstrate your understanding and show how you are applying or plan to apply this knowledge in your career and life.
A successful e-portfolio process fulfills the comprehensive exit exam requirement for masters degree candidates.
Where can I find a sample e-portfolio?
Here's what a sample e-portfolio might look like. (Or use the "Sample Portfolio" menu item at the top of this page from anywhere in this Web site.
When should the e-portfolio be started?
Your e-portfolio should be started as soon as you begin the EDTEC program. In EDTEC 541 you'll begin building your e-portfolio web site. In each class thereafter, you may add one or more projects or papers that demonstrate fulfillment of one of the core or other program standards. After completing a class project, review the standards and see if the artifact represents any of those. If so, write a reflection about that artifact in terms of the standard you have chosen. Each semester, review the core standards for which you have not already chosen an artifact, and plan how you might do that in the classes you plan to take.
When should the e-portfolio be completed?
You will complete your e-portfolio during ED 795B. You will present your e-portfolio in ED 795B to a panel of faculty to fulfill your comprehensive exam requirement.
