Distance Education Certificate

The Distance Education certificate are for those who are currently working in distance, open or extended education, training, Human Resource Development or a related field and who wish to develop or enhance their professional skills in Distance Education.

This certificate program will provide you to:

To receive a certificate in Distance Education, candidates must complete the following 12 units of coursework:

Course to Be Determined at a later date
EDTEC 640, Psychology of Technology-based Learning
EDTEC 650, Distance Education
EDTEC 684, Management of Educational Technology

and three elective units to be selected with the approval of the program director.

EDTEC 544, Instructional Design
EDTEC 670, Exploratory Learning Through Simulation and Games
EDTEC 671, Learning Environment Design
EDTEC 685, Instructional and Informational Technologies for Organizations

Application Procedures

You will need to apply to the university and to the department. Please submit to the department as a complete packet:

Dept. application and three letters of reference

Note: The Distance Education certificate classes do not count towards the MA degree if the certificate is received.
